Ireland’s Sorrento House Sells For A Record €10 Million, Dublin’s Highest Sale Price Since The 2008 Downturn

Christie’s International Real Estate Affiliate Sherry FitzGerald Entrusted to Represent Iconic and Artfully Renovated Waterfront Estate

Christie’s International Real Estate, the world’s leading network of luxury brokerages and a part of Christie’s auction house, is proud to announce the sale of Sorrento House. This fully renovated masterpiece achieved a price in excess of €10 million, Dublin’s highest sale price in seven years.

“This benchmark sale is a strong indicator that the Irish market is on the uptick,” says Dan Conn, CEO of Christie’s International Real Estate. “It also underscores the enduring value of prime real estate.”

Few houses can boast such a spectacular setting—the stunning backdrop of Dalkey Island, the vista across Killiney Bay to Bray Head and the dramatic Wicklow Mountains beyond.

Joachim Wrang-Widen Senior Vice President at Christie’s International Real Estate for Europe, Middle East and Africa says “Compared to some other European countries affected by the economic crisis, Ireland has restructured itself. The Irish economy was pre-crisis overly influenced by real estate & associated industries and the economic crisis has eliminated this over-dependency. Renewed confidence in the economy and the real estate market in general has brought a return of buyers and has generated more interest from both domestic and international buyers.  This transaction underlines the on-going recovery in the top-end of the greater Dublin market and verifies that exceptional properties – like Sorrento House – offering unique amenities will find buyers.”

What distinguishes Sorrento house from other impressive waterfront properties—apart from its grand architecture, uninterrupted views, welcome privacy and immaculately landscaped gardens—is the ease of access to the city. David Ashmore of Sherry FitzGerald says, “This is the highest price achieved for a Dublin residential property, certainly one in use as a private home, since the downturn.”
