Sherry FitzGerald has achieved the highest priced residential sale in Ireland since the economic downturn, according to the Irish Times (November 23, 2012), with the sale of the Humewood Castle Estate in Kiltegan, County Wicklow. The estate was sold to a US overseas buyer for a sum in the region of EUR€8M (US$10.763M). It was reported in The Irish Times on Dec 21st, 2012 that billionaire John Malone, the United States' biggest landowner, is the mystery buyer of the estate.
The property, which lies on 427 acres (approximately 173 hectares) in the beautiful countryside of Wicklow, was sold by David Ashmore of Sherry FitzGerald. Mr. Ashmore said that there is a noticeable improvement in the prime residential market in Ireland, especially with buyers in “the United States, Canada, Holland, the UK, China, and Russia.”
