À propos de Herengracht 8
Rijksmonument Vrede Hoop is a 17th century mansion on the Vecht riverbank in the centre of Maarssen-Dorp. The current owners have professionally renovated this special property with the use of the best materials and a great eye for detail. A project that took more than two years but has produced a fantastic and comfortable home with many beautiful, historical details.
A special feature is the garden at the back, fully enclosed by walls and covering a surface of almost 10,000 square feet, with a back entrance and a lot of parking space. The enormous living space, combined with its central location (at the centre of the town and within 30 minutes of the centre of Amsterdam), makes Vrede Hoop a house to fall in love with.
Ground floor A sunny terrace with a surface of more than 100 square feet, directly on the Vecht riverbank. Entrance: a hallway of 43 feet deep, with the original marble floor and ornamental ceiling, both fully restored. Toilet with underfloor heating. The spacious sitting room, on the side of the Vecht, has an antique 18th century fireplace and a handcrafted oak bookcase. On the other side of the hallway, a second living/dining room is situated, including with a fireplace and a view of the garden and the Vecht. Through the hallway, you can reach the cellar with the original tile flooring. The cellar has been made watertight and it can be used as a wine cellar.
On the rear of the house you can find a pleasant living and dining kitchen, custom made from solid oak. The kitchen has a large cooking island/dining table and Belgian hard stone flooring with underfloor heating. The kitchen, of course, is fully equipped with every conceivable appliance. From the kitchen, a large walk-in supply room annex pantry can be reached.
When you go up the attractive stairway you pass the wardrobe, and will reach the mezzanine.
1st floor At the front side, two pleasantly light bedrooms are located, containing custom built fitted wardrobes. Both bedrooms have a nice view of the town, church and Vecht. A fine study can also be found at this side of the house. At the rear, a spacious and luxurious bathroom is situated with a bath, two vanities, underfloor heating and a toilet. The master suite is also located at this end and has an adjoining bathroom with a walk-in shower, toilet, bidet, underfloor heating and a vanity with two basins. This bedroom also has a walk-in closet.
2nd floor Multiple rooms have been created in the former attic: a large loft, a study, a separate guest bedroom/au-pair room with an adjoining open bathroom containing a shower, toilet and a vanity. Next to this, a laundry/ironing room is situated and a technical room with the boiler and server for the ATS domotica-system.
A nice stairway gives access to the large rooftop terrace with maximum privacy and a view of the old town.
Garden The 10,000 square feet backyard is fully enclosed by walls. This gives a great sense of security and privacy. The park-like garden has been architecturally landscaped in 2009, preserving the beautiful old trees. Despite its surface, the garden is relatively maintenance free. Of course, the garden has lighting and a fully automatic sprinkler system. In the garden, three sheds, rebuilt in the old style, can be found and there is a very spacious garage with the connections for the pool.
General The ATS domotica-system supplies the house with state-of-the-art electrics. On three different places in the house, screens can be found to control the lighting, alarm, music and security camera at the access gate. Much attention was paid to perfect the lighting throughout the whole house. The ground, first and second floors all have solid oak floors.
Respectful to the character of this rijksmonument, the perfectionism of the owners and skills of the restorers created a truly perfect combination of classical building techniques and modern comfort, with a classical/modern feel. In short: a unique object that must be seen!
