Can Sa Roca is one of the largest and oldest residences on the island of Ibiza, perched on the side of a hill overlooking the quiet countryside of the pla de Portmany with its beautiful seaviews. This magnificent property on 36.320 m² land, consists of 1560 m² living space, some outbuildings, a beautiful wine cellar (former oil mill) and a caretakers house, all set in a mature garden with century old trees and orange orchards alongside fragrant lemon and cherry trees and its ecological vegetables plantation.

The front doorsteps lead up through the outside porch into the impressive entrance hall with its' minstrel gallery and large stone fireplace. To the left of the entrance on the ground floor, there is a large living room with an antique fireplace and a library. The library leads to the walled-in romantic garden courtyard with its fresh water fountain with the trickling water and coolness, who wouldn't want to breakfast here? The living room leads out onto a terrace, the formal gardens and then onto the vast original swimming pool (deep enough to dive!), which has a purpose built bar and barbecue area and a separate shower, bathroom and changing area.

To the right of the entrance on the ground floor there is a large dining room (with an intimate separate cigar room with fireplace) and (semi-professional) spacious ‘en-suite' kitchen. There is an antique wooden staircase on each side of the entrance hall leading up to the butler's office and self-contained suite on the mezzanine and onto the first floor, where two of the suites (with walk-in closets) and one extra bedroom are to be found, all with en-suite bathrooms. This staircase also leads you on to the large covered verandah on the first floor. The entrance hall has a passage (with another three bedrooms, all with bathrooms), connecting the main building to the guest area.

The guest area has its own lounge which gives access to another three beautiful bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. This area can also be reached by a separate access road. All guestrooms have private access to the pool area. The front of the property faces south, providing throughout the day a continuously good light from when the sun rises in the east to it setting in the west.

There is quick access to town, with its nautical club, moorings up to modern standards, schools, medical center, restaurants and its world famous sunset. The airport, international hospital and the capital of Ibiza is only 15-20 minutes away.

History
This original grand Ibicencan finca is well over three-hundred-years-old and served for centuries as the oil-mill of this area. It was bought at the beginning of the 1960s by the entrepreneur Gerry Albertini, who commissioned the renowned Ibicenco master builder of that time, Francisco Viñas, to reconstruct the property into his luxury stately home. Mr. Albertini frequently threw lavish dinner parties attended by such noble gentry as the Shah of Persia, Princess Soraya and Aristotle Onassis…along with film stars Ava Gardner, Errol Flynn, Orson Welles and many other celebrities of that glamorous era. Orson Welles wrote here his script for the movie: F for FAKE. At the end of the eighties the present owner bought the rundown property which he converted into the stately home of Can Sa Roca it is today.
