Architects and craftspeople of name and fame have joined forces to create this unique manor. The direction on the construction, interior design and intensive finishing was in the hands of Alphons Trossèl. The recently deceased interior architect led a team of passionate craftspeople who put their heart and soul into the creation of an elegant family residence in Mediterranean style. ‘Robust and refined’, that is how this house is best described. Robust, thanks to the rural appearance and the use of honest, natural materials. Refined, because of the artisan workmanship and detailing, the beautiful wall panels and coffered ceilings, the sophisticated stone processing, the gracious mosaic tableaus and the railings forged by Rein Tupker. The entire approach attests to a sense of aesthetic perfection and considerable knowledge of materials. Trossèl was a master in creating a rich, yet earthy style, where he combined precious and antique objects - not infrequently originating from French castles or completely custom-made - in a refined way with natural materials, such as the most beautiful stone and wood types and, for example, the unpolished roughness of weathered and aged American barn wood. It results in exciting houses, which offer a very warm and pleasant living environment. Trossèl called this manor in Epe his ‘Magnum Opus’, his most beautiful work. Not surprising. At a beautiful plot of ten acres situated in the forests of Epe, the construction of one of the most exclusive houses for miles around was started in 2004. The realisation of the thatched villa took more than two years. The manor stretches out over three floors and offers 1,232 m² of living space, including a basement of 293 m². A breathtakingly beautiful swimming pool is situated there, complete with whirlpool, a plunge pool, steam cabin with starry sky, a ten-person sauna, three toilets and a stylish bar. Four sets of arched, opening doors open up the recessed terrace in the shelter of an excavated undulating ‘alpine landscape’. The living areas at the ground floor (386 m²) gather around the central hall. The beautiful living room with beam ceiling and stone wall with a fireplace is situated in the right wing - here you imagine yourself being in a ski chalet in the French Alps. Adjacent you will find the dining room and the kitchen of Boffi, featuring all conceivable appliances of Gaggenau (cooking) and Miele (devices). The kitchen furniture of dark wood with the beautiful veined Carrara marble countertops provides the whole with a very luxurious distinction. An intimate sitting room is situated at the back of the house, where it is possible to enjoy a good glass of wine and the beautiful view of the garden. The ceilings are borne by crosswise oak beams and the walls were sponged in Mediterranean colours by a Belgian artisan, giving it the weathered effect of ancient castle walls. Left of the hall you will find the home cinema, which can be closed off from the living room with sliding walls. Just like in the adjacent office, with fireplace, library and salon, the walls are beautifully panelled and featuring gracious panels, antique French ornaments and cornices. The custom made bookcases in the library are a display of pure traditional craftsmanship. The spacious master suite is situated on the first floor, with dressing room and a stylish, richly decorated bathroom, where the most beautiful stone has been used. The entresol, with arched ceiling, provides access to another three very spacious bedrooms and two beautiful bathrooms. The entire villa features advanced home automation. Around the house a beautiful park and woodland garden has been landscaped. A lot of attention went into creating a transition to the surrounding woods which is as harmonious as possible. At the edge of the lawn, half below the coniferous trees, an elongated ‘natural’ fen has been created, which seem to be fed by an imaginary brook which originated somewhere deep in the woodlands. The outside swimming pool, with stone terrace, is flanked by a robust, thatched outbuilding with weatherboarded wooden walls. It is a sizable 160 m² and provides housing to the swimming pool system, a storage space and a very luxurious studio, which could also be an amazing guesthouse or accommodation for the nanny. At the vast terrain, a large Dutch barn has been constructed out of sight with a stone floor for storage purposes and garden devices. The plot is enclosed by an automatic wrought iron access gate with camera security. This amazingly beautiful NSW estate is surrounded by forests and nature as far as the eye can see and even further. In the direct vicinity you can find atmospheric villages like Epe, Nunspeet and Heerde. You live here in an enchanting beauty and at a central location in the Netherlands. It is a location to experience ultimate tranquillity and the luxury of real peace.
