Christie’s International Real Estate expands this month to North Carolina coast with Affiliate Ivester Jackson, marking the company’s sixth expansion within the state
Wrightsville Beach is the setting for television’s Dawson’s Creek; an area known for its stunning stretches of sand, iconic lighthouses and storied pirate past
New York, New York (July 15, 2021) — Christie’s International Real Estate proudly announces the sixth territory expansion of its North Carolina Affiliate Ivester Jackson, which first launched in Charlotte in 2014. The new territory encompasses North Carolina’s most sought-after beach communities.
Long a well-kept secret among second-home buyers in the urban hub of nearby inland communities in the Carolinas, the area is now being discovered by buyers from California, the northeast financial corridor and the District of Columbia as remote working continues. The stunning and family-friendly locale also offers a unique value proposition with luxury along the coast being defined at US$1 million.
Since July 1 of 2020, during the pandemic, 680 properties valued over the million-dollar threshold have been purchased in coastal communities from Sunset Beach through the Wilmington barrier islands, and up to Atlantic Beach. This compares with just 280 properties closing in the same range in the preceding year before, an increase of over 200%. The highest priced MLS sale was a US$6.4 million-dollar oceanfront home in the Wilmington area, a 28% increase in price over the previous year’s high sale at $5 million.
Said Reed Jackson, managing partner of Ivester Jackson: “Our market leading partnership with Christie’s International Real Estate led to over 70 estate home closings in excess of US$2 million in value statewide last year, placing us at the top of North Carolina’s luxury brokerages. Coastal inquiries from both Christie’s and Christie’s International Real Estate clients and our own network of luxury brokerages, along with Wilmington’s dynamic growth, led us to select this new location for our next collaboration.”
The new office in Wrightsville Beach will be headed by Britt Allen, who spearheaded three of the companies six ventures and has already recruited 10 area luxury specialists to join the brokerage. The office will officially open the first week in July.
Said Rick Moeser, executive director of Christie’s International Real Estate: “As the real estate arm of the world’s leading art auction house, we continue to identify and expand into emerging luxury enclaves to assist top brokers and their clients. In a short amount of time, Ivester Jackson has established itself as the luxury leader in North Carolina, winning the esteemed Affiliate of the Year honors in 2018. To have this high level of expertise on the North Carolina coast, a rapidly growing luxury market coming off the pandemic, is truly exciting.”
The Carolina coast is noted for its beaches, named by Southern Living as “one of the best in the South.” The waters invited everything from surfing, to sailing, to kayaking, to stand up paddle boarding. Architecturally, it’s a mix of low country coastal style, neo traditional shake exteriors, transitional stucco with European influences, and coastal modern and contemporary.
The restaurants are top-caliber and when a day of pampering beckons, spas abound at the area’s beachfront resorts. The lighthouses are national treasures, and the pirate history delights children of all ages and is a mainstay of youth programs who dig for treasure where X marks the spot.
