Christie’s International Real Estate announces its first-ever Luxury Defined Live webinar series

Interactive online forum will explore a range of topics at the intersection of real estate, art and luxury living

New York, New York March 18, 2021) — Christie’s International Real Estate, the real estate arm of Christie’s, the world’s leading art auction house, is pleased to introduce its most recent innovation, Luxury Defined Live. Marshalling the resources of Christie’s International Real Estate, Christie’s art specialists, the expertise of the world’s most accomplished affiliate network and global authorities on emerging luxury trends, the webinar series will explore a variety of art, real estate and lifestyle topics relevant to connoisseurs of fine living.

Dan Conn, CEO of Christie’s International Real Estate, said: “Our Luxury Defined blog has set an industry standard on reporting the latest trends in the luxury sector since its launch in 2015. This new webinar series represents a logical evolution of our platform, offering participants the ability to engage in real time with global experts on cutting-edge and forward-thinking topics.”

The inaugural webinar will explore the ways in which nature is increasingly informing architecture and design. The presentation and discussion will take place on March 26 and looks at sustainability and healthy living spaces within the context of the luxury sector. Speakers are:

  • Alfredo Häberli, founder and principal of Zurich-based Alfredo Häberli Design Development. His designs have been shown in numerous exhibitions throughout Europe and he has received many awards for his work throughout the years, including Designer of Year by Architektur & Wohnen magazine. With works swiftly becoming icons of this age, Mr. Häberli designs spaces that embody our particular living conditions, rather than those of the future or past.
  • Robert Lumme is both an architect and building biologist for Baufritz, the award-winning German-based firm that has been specializing in ecological housing for over 120 years. Mr. Lumme once described his field as the science of healthy buildings and creating living environments avoiding toxic substances, typically found in paints, adhesives and building materials in general, for the firm’s clients who want to build beautiful ecological houses.
  • Kevin McCloud is a champion of sustainable development and ecological construction, striving to make the built environment better, and consequently making its occupants feel better, too. He has hosted the popular “Grand Designs” U.K. television series since its debut in 1999. Over 200 episodes later, the engaging Mr. McCloud continues to follow enterprising individuals each week trying to design and build their dream homes.

The discussion will touch on the achievements of Baufritz, now led by the founder’s great-great granddaughter, Dagmar Fritz-Kramer, recipient of numerous international accolades and several ecological patents. One, as an example, is for insulation that uses wood shavings instead of fiber glass. The company specializes in Bespoke luxury pre-fab designs with a priority on health and sustainability.

At the personal request of Ms. Fritz-Kramer to infuse his signature design style into their buildings, Mr. Häberli, also an architect, created the award-winning Haussicht House in Erkheim, Germany. The result is a beautiful contemporary building celebrating, architecture, ecology, healthy living and sustainability.

Mr. Conn adds: “High-end real estate extends beyond brick and mortar. It is a lifestyle. Now more than ever, our homes have become our sanctuaries. This creates a hunger for ideas to enhance personal spaces in the context of a global perspective that only Christie’s and Christie’s International Real Estate can provide. There couldn’t be a more relevant time to launch this ambitious new initiative.”

Said Kamilah Ramji, of Christie’s International Real Estate who led the Luxury Defined Live initiative: “We are so pleased to welcome this distinguished slate of speakers to our first Luxury Defined Live Webinar. Stewardship and an appreciation of nature overlaid atop beauty and style promises to create a lively discussion and inspire new insights for those who attend.”

The webinar is open to all and can be registered for here.
