Significant Sale in Seattle, Washington: 30th floor penthouse in iconic Escala tower

New York, New York (October 28, 2021) — Underscoring the resilience of Seattle, Washington’s property market, Christie’s International Real Estate, Seattle and Scott Wasner achieved the top two record sales of the year.

Mr. Wasner, co-founder and executive vice-president, said: “As we continue to press through the COVID-19 pandemic, the resurgence of Seattle and its real estate market in the downtown core is becoming more and more apparent. In the last four months I have orchestrated two of the most significant sales the city has seen since 2020. These sales, along with others, showcase the growing demand for in-city residences as astute buyers see the current and long-term value of downtown property.”

Seattle was particularly hard hit by COVID-19. Yet, while in the grips of the pandemic, the downtown Seattle luxury market stalled only slightly. The year of 2020 posted 82 sales over US$1 million, the highest of which was $9,500,000, also sold by Mr. Wasner. This compared to 86 in 2019. Inventory was up five percent 2019 versus 2020. Days on Market lowered to 72 days whereas before COVID-19, 109 days was the average. In the third quarter of 2021, those numbers were 50 days, signaling a recovery.

Added Mr. Wasner: “The robust and diverse economics of the region, including the significant involvement of many iconic global brands, continue to attract buyers from out of state as well as oversees. The revitalization of many of the city’s cultural attractions is certainly helping the real estate market as well. Restaurants, bars and in-person sporting events have taken the main stage in bringing foot traffic back to the sidewalks of Seattle. As an in-city resident, I have personally invested in downtown Seattle and continue to bet on its future.”

The penthouse at Escala, one of Seattle’s most exclusive condominium towers, offered three bedrooms of new construction across 4,500 square feet.
