New Yorkers will tell you that there’s no neighborhood hotter right now than Tribeca. Little surprise, then, that Gabby Karan De Felice (daughter of the designer Donna Karan) chose to locate her restaurant at its heart. Since opening, Tutto il Giorno has been garnering praise from hard-to-please locals not only for its hearty authentic Italian menu but also for its slick interior—the work of architect Francis D’Haene.

Walls made of cool, raw cement and flooring of reclaimed oak give the space a polished, minimalist feel that perfectly suits the informal sophistication of Tribeca itself. Over the bar hangs a Swarovski-crystal chandelier made by artisans in Haiti, supported by Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Foundation. And orchids are dotted around, bringing an air of the exotic to this chic modern Italian, which puts an inventive spin on traditional pasta and seafood dishes rooted in Neapolitan culture.

Creating a sophisticated yet welcoming space with a simple Southern Italian menu was the brief for Tutto Il Giorno Tribeca.
While Gabby Karan De Felice co-ordinated the design of the restaurant, close friend Maurizio Marfoglia took control of the menu.
If the restaurant’s name sounds familiar, it should. Tutti il Giorno first opened its doors in the Hamptons in late May 2007, when a newly married Gabby sought to create an Italian home away from home for her husband Gianpaolo De Felice. Four years later, a Southampton location launched, and it was only natural that the concept should eventually branch into New York’s trendy Tribeca neighborhood. The result is a venture that harnesses all the breezy charm of the restaurant’s early Sag Harbor origins and translates it seamlessly into its new metropolitan venue. It’s a space that, as Gabby has noted, is “pure and loft-like… and all New York City.”
