Part of the Town of Greenwich, the coastal hamlet of Riverside takes its name from its location on the Mianus River, a 20-mile-long tributary of Long Island Sound. Up until the late 19th century, Riverside was a small farming, fishing, and oystering community on Long Island Sound. Like the neighboring hamlets of Old Greenwich and Cos Cob, it became a popular summer destination for some of America’s most affluent families. It’s still one of the most desirable enclaves along Connecticut’s Gold Coast, offering scenic coastal areas and wooded parkland, a yacht club, shops and restaurants, and elegant waterfront homes, all within an hour from Midtown Manhattan.
