The largest of the Channel Islands, Jersey is located south of England in the Bay of Mont St Michel, just 14 miles from Normandy, France. A British Crown Dependency, Jersey’s official language is English, driving is on the left, and the currency is pound sterling; however, there is still a strong French influence, evidenced by the road and place names and local family names. This self-governing island has long been a draw: in addition to its many tax advantages, it offers residents safety and privacy, high-quality health and leisure facilities, world-class restaurants, a good education system, and easy access to the United Kingdom and mainland Europe.
