Former Estate Of Beloved “Tonight Show” Host, Johnny Carson, Offered For $81.5 Million

Represented by Affiliate Hilton & Hyland, the ultimately private estate boasts rare Hollywood provenance, and now listed by celebrated film producer Sidney Kimmel

Los Angeles, CA - Sidney Kimmel, producer of memorable hit films such as “Moneyball,” “The Kite Runner,” and “The Place Among the Pines,” has listed his home, sited on four private acres on a bluff overlooking the Pacific, for $81.5 million. The estate had previously belonged to Johnny Carson, of “The Tonight Show” fame, for two decades until his death in 2005. Hilton & Hyland, the exclusive Affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate in Beverly Hills is representing the property. Drew Fenton and Bjorn Farrugia have the co-listing.

The modern masterpiece was conceived by famed Malibu architect Ed Niles. The 7,083 square foot residence is distinguished by a double triangle-shaped living room with 30-foot ceilings and walls of glass to frame the dramatic rock outcrops and ocean views. Natural light streams throughout and supports the indoor arboretum. Included, too, are an Asian-inspired lounge, chef’s kitchen, spaces for both formal and alfresco dining and a wine room.

The master suite commands the entire second floor with two separate onyx-appointed baths, two walk-in wardrobes, and two private offices. Terraces take full advantage of the sprawling views.

The property is introduced by a gated drive meandering through a rich canopy of mature trees. Rich landscaping is appointed with waterfalls, a koi pond, a saltwater pool, and walking paths featuring relaxation nooks; there is access to the beach below. The sunken championship tennis court – a gift to Mr. Carson from NBC - includes a viewing pavilion with two bedrooms, and a gym and media room with walls that open to usher the outdoors in. There is also a separate guesthouse on the estate.

Auxiliary amenities include a security office, a property manager’s office, staff and laundry facilities, and an elevator.
