Montauk Oceanfront Paradise, 36-Acre Oasis Of Unparalleled Privacy With Asia-Influenced Architecture, Offered At $48 Million

The oceanfront paradise neighbors former Andy Warhol estate, purchased by J. Crew CEO, Mickey Drexler in 2007 and sold to Adam Lindemann in 2015, also for $49 million

Montauk, New York – In the exclusive enclave of Montauk Point, an oceanfront paradise of rare scope and design is being offered for sale for the first time. The contemporary Asian-inspired residence of five bedrooms and four baths, is surrounded by a private reserve, protected by thoughtful conservancy restrictions to ensure a safe haven for the estate’s abundant waterfowl – including the endangered wood duck, considered the most gloriously colorful of all birds. The ultimately private, three-level, 7,000-square-foot home commands a high bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and a secluded sand beach, a rarity on Montauk’s rocky shores, and is perfectly sited to capture both sunrises and sunsets. The current owner is Eli Wilner, the world’s leading authority on framing and showcasing multi-million dollar art masterpieces.

Montauk Oceanfront Paradise is offered for $48 million by Brown Harris Stevens with worldwide marketing provided by Christie’s International Real Estate. It encompasses 36-acres. In comparison, the neighboring estate, purchased for $49 million in 2015, according to public records, encompasses roughly 5.7 acres.

The owners purchased the land in 1992. The home was completed three years later, designed completely with the Wilner’s keen eye for art and design. The staircase is nothing short of magnificent.

The residence, inspired when the owners viewed the Vanderbilt mansion on Newport, Rhode Island’s Mansion Walk, is also an engineering marvel. The blue tile roof, a tea house detail, has also proven impervious to high winds; sections of wood, rubber and then tile weigh downward on the house for stability. The house is also set on a steel super structure, much like a girder set, which has comfortably withstood winds upwards of 100 mph.

The beach is the result of two jetties 1,000-feet apart, which capture and contain sand carried in by waves and currents during storms. Because the public access points are not close by, the beach is largely crowd-free while offering fantastic surfing and ocean fishing.

The former fishing village of Montauk is attracting new celebrity residents, such as Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts, for its relaxed but elegant Malibu aesthetic.
