Sobre Corrageen, Rathnure, Enniscorthy, County Wexford

Corrageen House is positioned at the end of a country lane and has the seclusion desired by many. Over the two miles of its length the lane climbs some two hundred metres, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and bringing us to the pristine natural beauty of the Blackstairs Mountains (special conservation area), with its hill walks and nature trails. The substantial late 17th century farm house has been expertly restored and extended to create a warm family home.

The family area, with its original forge fireplace taking centre stage in the main room, links superbly with the sun room, creating a wonderful space to enjoy long summer evenings or to be cosy by the fire in winter. The Andrew Ryan handcrafted kitchen, with its AGA, cut stone walls and tiled floors, is at the heart of the house and includes a generous area for informal dining. Glass doors lead out of the kitchen to a sheltered courtyard, excellently suited for barbequing. The TV room, with its wood-burning stove and wooden floors, is just off the guest bedroom, the latter including a walk-in storage area and an ensuite. The downstairs is completed by a large utility area with Belfast sink and WC off.

On the first floor there are further 3 bedrooms. The master suite has a wonderfully warm feel to it, with upper garden access, a walk-in area and an ensuite. The first floor is completed by a family bathroom.

The adjacent converted barn with its wood-burning stove provides separate recreation space, completed by a small kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor; an upstairs study and bedroom have upper garden access via a small conservatory. As in the main house, there is underfloor heating and double glazing throughout.

Corrageen House has some 24 acres of excellent grazing lands that are well drained, with mature boundaries. A secluded pleasure garden on the upper level leads onto a well cultivated kitchen garden. There is a good range of outbuildings including 3 stables, hay barn, cattle/sheep shed and other useful storage sheds.

There is unrestricted access to a commonage comprising some 391.5 hectares (968 acres), for grazing sheep, horses and cattle, and recreational use, which immediately adjoins the land.
