The Old Knowles Ranch is a sprawling, magnificent working cattle ranch located in the remote and scenic Western Chilcotin region of central British Columbia, some 100 miles west of the city of Williams Lake.

With nearly 4,000 deeded acres, Crown Grazing and land leases totaling 677,220 acres, and adjacent big-game territory estimated to be 741,715 acres, the Old Knowles Ranch is a thriving livestock operation. Crown range permits allow for approximately 1,400 head of cattle, and the ranch is currently running under capacity at 800 head. Elevations at the ranch vary from 3,000 to 7,000 feet

Flood-irrigated fields yield some 1,500 tons of hay with the potential to vastly increase arable lands for additional hay production.

This secluded yet vast landholding is "off the grid" and generates its electricity with a three-phase hydroelectric system with six miles of transmission lines to the main ranch.

The fixed assets on the ranch include an impressive compound that features the owner's house, built in 2010, with three bedrooms, three and one half bathrooms, and large wraparound covered decks with commanding views of the valley, hay fields, Chilcotin River, and surrounding mountains.

Nearby, the 1,700-square-foot ranch manager's house (known as the Maxwell House) has three bedrooms, two baths, spring domestic water, and satellite television; it was fully renovated in 2017.

A 2,074-square-foot, four-bedroom, four-bath guest house is situated on the Chilcotin River, just steps away from excellent trout fishing.

Located some 39 miles from the ranch headquarters are three cabins used mainly by hunters but are ideal for the adventuresome ecotourist as well. The terrain is perfect for hiking, mountain biking, or viewing the magnificent wildlife that is abundant throughout the territory.

Additional structures and amenities include a three-bedroom staff house, cabin, chicken house, pig barn, corrals, paddocks, livestock feeders, generator building, three new hunting cabins located in the adjacent hunting guide territory, cattle handling barn with hydraulic squeeze, shop building, calving barn, equipment buildings, and a state-of-the art cattle handling system.
